Whistle-Blowing Policy – KWETU
KWETU is committed to the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability. This Whistle-Blowing Policy provides a safe and confidential framework for reporting wrongdoing, irregularities, or unethical conduct by staff, partners, or contractors, especially where such matters fall outside other reporting mechanisms.
Purpose
The policy aims to ensure concerns are reported and addressed fairly, promptly, and discreetly, while reinforcing KWETU’s values and enabling early resolution of serious issues.
Protection of Whistle-Blowers
Anyone who raises a genuine concern in good faith will be protected from victimisation, retaliation, or any form of disadvantage.
What Can Be Reported
This policy covers, but is not limited to:
- Breaches of law or criminal offences
- Miscarriage of justice
- Serious health and safety risks
- Misuse of funds, fraud, or corruption
- Abuse (sexual, physical, verbal), bullying, or intimidation
- Abuse of authority or office
- Any other unethical conduct
Confidentiality & Reporting
All reports are treated in strict confidence. Disclosures can be made via email to admin@kwetukenya.org. A whistle-blower’s identity will not be disclosed without consent, unless required by law.
False or Malicious Allegations
No action will be taken against individuals who raise concerns in the public interest, even if they are not substantiated. However, malicious, frivolous, or bad-faith allegations may lead to disciplinary action.
KWETU Management and the Board fully support the effective implementation of this policy to uphold ethical conduct and accountability across the organisation.
