KWETU Bussiness development OFFICER.

Position:  Business Development officer– Kwetu Bluebiz project

LOCATION: Kilifi County with possible travels within the Coastal Counties.

Reports To: Project Coordinator.

Location: Kilifi County with implementation region being Kilifi and Mombasa Counties.

Duration: 9 months with possibility of renewal subject to successful implementation and funding availability.

 

Background

Kwetu is a local partner in the implementation of a Mastercard funded foundation in partnership with Technoserve dubbed ‘Blue biz project’. The project targets empowering economically disadvantaged and vulnerable young people in the Blue economy sector in the coast region.  

Kwetu therefore seeks a suitable candidate to fill the above-mentioned position of a Business Development officer under the following terms.

Job Summary:

Kwetu training centre is seeking to fill the position of a business officer, to support in the implementation of Bluebiz project in Kilifi and Mombasa Counties. Reporting to the Project coordinator Bluebiz project, the Business officer will be responsible for timely and effective implementation of project activities and achievement of the project’s goal.

 Key roles and responsibility

  • Area mapping, mobilization and recruitment of program beneficiaries using set criteria.
  • Deliver training sessions according to the program guidelines.
  • Provide linkages support to the micro businesses including linkages to financial institutions, to suppliers and other ecosystem players according to the program guidelines.
  • Support in all types of monitoring and evaluation activities, surveys and in reporting, weekly, monthly and in developing program success stories and lessons learnt.
  • Follow and maintain the program work plan
  • Work closely with project coordinator, MEAL officer and other project team to ensure program deliverables are met through critical review of project activities in the field and eliminate any risks that may hinder effective implementation of the Project
  • share activity and monthly reports on the program progress updates

Minimum required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business related field or with at least 3 years working experience working with Micro- enterprises or Advanced diploma with 5 years working experience.
  • Experience with digital training and delivery mechanisms
  • Experience working with youths preferably in the coast region
  • Strong and demonstrable report writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills a must
  • Proficiency in MS Office especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Training experience will be an added advantage.
